ABOUT US

The Lost City Expedition

2018 - 2025

Founded in 2018, The Lost City Expedition was born from a deep commitment to sharing the wonders of Ciudad Perdida, Colombia, while directly supporting the indigenous and peasant communities who have protected this land for centuries.

More than just a trek, it is a bridge between past and present—a way for travelers to connect with the ancient legacy of the Tayrona civilization while contributing to the sustainable development of those who call this sacred land home.

From the very beginning, our mission has been clear: to create an experience that is as meaningful for visitors as it is beneficial for the local communities. We work hand in hand with indigenous leaders, local guides, and families to ensure that every step taken toward Ciudad Perdida, Colombia, is a step toward economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and environmental stewardship.

A JOURNEY ROOTED IN RESPECT

GROWING WITH A PURPOSE

Respect is at the heart of everything we do.  A percentage of every booking directly supports indigenous and peasant families, funding local initiatives, improving infrastructure, and creating sustainable job opportunities. This is not just a trek; it’s a collective effort to preserve the spirit of the Sierra Nevada and honor those who have safeguarded it for generations.

Since our foundation in 2018, The Lost City Expedition has grown from a simple idea into a movement, one that blends adventure with impact. Every traveler who joins The Lost City Expedition becomes part of this purpose-driven journey. With every step through the jungle, every story shared by a local guide, and every moment of reflection atop the ancient terraces of Ciudad Perdida, Colombia, a deeper connection is forged, not just with history, but with the people who keep it alive.

Our mission is to offer transformative journeys into the heart of the Lost City, where adventure meets cultural preservation.

We are committed to not only guiding travelers through the Sierra Nevada's breathtaking landscapes but also fostering a deep respect for the indigenous communities that call it home.

Our vision is to be a beacon of responsible tourism that empowers both travelers and the indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada.

We strive to cultivate a space where exploration is intertwined with education and respect, leading to a global movement of travel that preserves cultural heritage and environmental balance. In the future, we see a world where the Lost City serves as an example of how ancient wisdom and modern adventure can coexist in harmony, inspiring generations to explore consciously.

Cultural Connection

The Kogi and Wiwa communities are descendants of the Tairona civilization, who built the Lost City (Teyuna) long before the Spanish conquest. Today, they act as guardians of the land, maintaining a deep spiritual connection to nature.

They believe in the balance between humanity and the environment, a belief that permeates every aspect of their culture. During your trek, you will encounter these communities and have the unique opportunity to learn from their profound respect for the environment, their customs, and their worldview.

As we walk through sacred trails, visit indigenous villages, and witness the untouched beauty of the Sierra Nevada, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage that continues to thrive here. This is more than just a trek; it’s an invitation to connect with the spirit of the land and the people who hold its stories.
