The Lost City | La Ciudad Perdida Colombia

Santos Izaguirre

My journey with The Lost City began 7 years ago. What started as an adventurous exploration has turned into a lifelong passion that connects deeply with my roots and the mystical aura of this ancient site.

I first encountered the beauty and mystery of
The Lost City in 2018, when I began as a english interpreter with a small, yet driven vision to bring this hidden gem to more adventurers. I soon realized this wasn’t just another trek through the jungle; this was a life-changing experience, for me and the people I trekked with.

Today, The Lost City Expedition is a reflection of everything I have learned, felt, and shared over the years. It’s not just a trek; it’s a journey where different stories converge, where the jungle speaks to those who are willing to listen, and where every step reveals a deeper connection to the earth and its ancient inhabitants.

"My greatest reward has been witnessing how this sacred place transforms others. It’s more than a destination, it’s a life-changing experience"

Mission  & Vision

Our mission is to offer transformative journeys into the heart of the Lost City, where adventure meets cultural preservation. We are committed to not only guiding travelers through the Sierra Nevada's breathtaking landscapes but also fostering a deep respect for the indigenous communities that call it home.

By sharing their stories, wisdom, and traditions, we aim to protect this sacred land while creating meaningful connections between cultures, promoting sustainable travel, and encouraging a lasting reverence for nature.

Our vision is to be a beacon of responsible tourism that empowers both travelers and the indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada.

We strive to cultivate a space where exploration is intertwined with education and respect, leading to a global movement of travel that preserves cultural heritage and environmental balance. In the future, we see a world where the Lost City serves as an example of how ancient wisdom and modern adventure can coexist in harmony, inspiring generations to explore consciously.

Cultural Connection

The Kogi and Wiwa communities are descendants of the Tairona civilization, who built the Lost City (Teyuna) long before the Spanish conquest. Today, they act as guardians of the land, maintaining a deep spiritual connection to nature.

They believe in the balance between humanity and the environment, a belief that permeates every aspect of their culture. During your trek, you will encounter these communities and have the unique opportunity to learn from their profound respect for the environment, their customs, and their worldview.

As we walk through sacred trails, visit indigenous villages, and witness the untouched beauty of the Sierra Nevada, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage that continues to thrive here. This is more than just a trek; it’s an invitation to connect with the spirit of the land and the people who hold its stories.
